Today’s “Locals to Know” feature is sponsored OnParNow.

Tell us about your work – your work and / or any volunteer work.

I created, own and manage OnPar now, a golf training and exercise facility in the terminal building in the Strip area, which aims to break down barriers that are common in sports. I admire the importance of golf for careers, relationships and health in general, and I want to inspire people to be the best. Golf can be a platform for all these things.

Returning to my community is a priority. I am a volunteer for Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic Leagueand as a member of Art Executive Women’s Council I support the United Way in their endeavors. In addition, I have supported many fundraising organizations over the past year with gift certificates for OnPar Now.

What is your favorite memory of Pittsburgh?

At night through the tunnels of Fort Pitt awe-inspiring – is our beautiful city; our three rivers merge. From the lighted fountain at Point to the sports arenas and the twinkling lights from our beautiful cityscape – the view is breathtaking and you know you’re home.

Choose your favorite local outdoor experience. What is it? What are we doing? Who’s coming with you?

My son Charlie and I grab oars and vests and head down to Lock Wall One Pier, where our kayaks are stacked. We carry them to the ramp by the water and head for Allegheny. After a few strokes I put the paddle on my knees, tilt my head back and feel the sun on my face. It’s so great to be on the water and be one with nature. When we head to RedFin Blues, we see turtles, ducks and geese, and then tie up on the dock and head out to dinner and have a cocktail. It is a perfect day that ends with great company among visitors and staff; it seems to be a favorite vacation spot, but is just a mile from home.

What is your favorite local Instagram or TikTok account and why?

@ meraki_studio412. Pastes are so inspiring, empowering, healthy and positive! I always love going to Laurie’s studio; it essentially inspired my living space. We have a mezzanine in OnPar Now (and, like Lori’s space, it’s imbued with natural light) that is used for private events, business meetings or for warming up with our pre-lesson fitness equipment.

If you could eat just one meal at a local restaurant for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Grilled black salmon salad with lemon-ginger dressing Alaskan Grill Luke Beehive in the strip! Combine this with their skinny Margarita and I will be set for life 😊

OnPar Now just celebrated its first anniversary last month!

What project are you working on (large or small) and how can our readers help you with this?

I am dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of golf – especially for women and their careers. Business is a relationship that is fully established and / or strengthened on the golf course. Many women have no idea what opportunities they are missing out on because they are often out of the golf range for business development.

I have created a warm, welcoming space where anyone, regardless of skill level or gender, can come to learn to play or improve their golf skills.

Please help me make joining the sport easier! Support attending a beginner’s clinic for your staff; gather friends / colleagues and come to build confidence so everyone can take part in the corporate skirmish; teach college students that golf is the most important tool in their tool belt!

What are you waiting for this year?

We return to a more secure lifestyle when COVID is not in mind, and play the Woodlands Golf Classic in June.
