With barbecue competitions, fairs, concerts and fairs this weekend, it’s safe to say there’s something for everyone in Lancaster County.
This weekend marks the final concert of the 2022 Long’s Park Summer Music Series, featuring Delaware County native Devon Gilfillian. And a classic rock band that hasn’t performed together in about 45 years will reunite this weekend to belt out some classic tunes.
For whole food lovers, the Mountville Makers Market doubles as a food truck festival. Or, if you’re more of a barbecue lover, 48 grill masters will compete to see who can cook the best meal.
Here are eight must-see events in Lancaster County this weekend.
Elizabethtown Fair
The Elizabethtown Fair kicked off the Lancaster County Fair season this Monday with games, agricultural displays, rides, live entertainment and more. The fair will continue until Saturday. Some recommended events include:
– Thursday: The Joey Vincent Show on Stage 2 from 5pm to 9pm; Flamin’ Dick and the Hot Rods on the Kiwanis Stage at 7 p.m. Attractions are held from 14:00 to 18:00.
– Friday: pedal tractor pulls at 18.00. Rides are available for the price of one from 2 to 6 p.m.
– saturday: Corn Pit Tournament at 4 p.m.; LUV GODS on the Kiwanis Stage at 7 p.m. Rides are priced for one price from noon to 5 p.m

New Holland Summer Festival
Barbecue lovers rejoice: this weekend you will have the opportunity to taste home-cooked meals from 48 chefs who have mastered the art of grilling. While you enjoy your meal, 48 chefs will compete in categories such as beef brisket, pork, chicken and pork ribs for a chance to win trophies or cash prizes. Proceeds benefit the New Holland Community Park and Garden Fire Department.

Paws and prints of puppies
Artist Lauryn Spangler-Jones will host a National Dog Day event where dog owners can bring their four-legged best friends into the studio and leave with a custom paw print. The studio will provide non-toxic paint and baby wipes to clean your dog’s paws afterwards. Some of the proceeds from this event will go to the Lancaster Animal Rescue Center, formerly the Humane League of Lancaster County. .

Mountville Farmers Market
The Shank Shoppe will host a maker’s market and food truck festival this weekend in Mountville with more than 70 vendors. Items for sale include home decor, candles, baked goods, woodworking, crystals and more.

Children’s cookie fest
Kids Cookie Break Fest will celebrate its 10th year with food, bounce houses, carnival games, vendors, covered wagon tours and more. There will also be demonstrations from Slugs & Bugs, Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary and First Capital Drum Line, among others.
Check with the event coordinators to see if there are any tickets left. No tickets were available for the 10 a.m. screening at press time.

Play the readings
Creative Works of Lancaster and Lancaster Dramatists’ Platform will partner to bring plays to Tellus360 this weekend. Local actors will perform readings by five playwrights — David Nice, John Reshetor, Tyler Joseph Rossi, Rachel Luann Strayer and Bruce Walsh.

Classic rock concert
While there are several professional cover bands playing around Lancaster County this weekend, this concert impressed us with its Lancaster connection. Two local classic rock bands, Tuesday Rains and Andora, will be performing at the Marietta Arts Center this weekend. This is Andorra’s first performance in 45 years.

Devon Gilfillian
Blues/soul artist Devon Gilfillian will perform at the final Long’s Park Summer Music Series concert in 2022. The Delaware native was recently nominated for a Grammy Award for his 2020 album Black Hole Rainbow.
