A 26-year-old man died in an accident in Fayette County

REPUBLIC, Pennsylvania (KDKA) – A 26-year-old man was killed in a car crash early in the morning.

While all the details are still being investigated, officials say the blue pickup truck crashed into several different objects, causing William Vernon to lose control before rolling over, which eventually ended in his death.

Shortly before 4 a.m., Pennsylvania police said Vernon was recklessly driving down Stone Church Road after crashing into a telephone pole more than a mile away. From there, he continued to drive and overturned his truck, stopping at Darlene Braim’s house and destroying her footsteps.

She said the crash shook her home and woke up her entire family.

Police said Vernon died from his injuries, and these are details that Braim leaves while telling his children, but recounts the horrific moments she thought the truck drove through her house.

“It woke us up from a dead sleep,” she recalled. “It was a big bang, a collision, without warning. It just shook the house, we woke up, and here it is.”

Fayette County Coroner is conducting an autopsy while police await any possible information – including a toxicological conclusion for a possible explanation for the wreckage.
