Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash during rush hour Wednesday on Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township that briefly shut down two westbound lanes of the highway.

Northampton County dispatch said the crash happened at mile marker 63.4 around 3:40 p.m.

The dispatcher said the road was soon open to traffic in both lanes. Vehicles were seen using the shoulder to maneuver past the crash.

The dispatcher also said a county investigator had not been dispatched.

State police spokesman Nathan Branosky said an unspecified number of injuries were reported in the crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer. He said state police in Belfast are investigating.
