A fire in the house killed one person in the town of West Calne – Daily Local

WEST CALNE – One person died Tuesday in a fire at a home in the city of West Cologne.

Firefighters were called to the 100th Quarter of Caton Rd at 11:30 a.m. on reports of a fire from a first-floor housing window.

Firefighters and police from West Caln arrived quickly. Firefighters from White Horse and Honey Brook Fire were the first to arrive at the scene.

The crews immediately took up arms with several handles and also began searching the residence. Within minutes, the victim was found, taken out of the house and taken to an ambulance that was standing at the scene. The medical helicopter was initially put on standby, but was stopped a few minutes later. At 11.56 the fire was extinguished

Firefighters from Wagontown, Westwood, White Horse, Honey Brook, Keystone Valley, Sadsburyville and Cochranville were on the scene. Fire police closed part of Route 10 and Catan Road during the fire.

Officials are still working to find out how the fire started, and firefighters are investigating. The identity of the victim is not disclosed to close relatives.
