A man is convicted of trying to lure a teenager to sex in Abington

NARYSTOWN – A man from Philadelphia has been sentenced to prison but will remain under trial for several more years after probation after he confessed to trying to lure a minor to meet him for sex in Abington.

32-year-old Jonathan Ismael Fabiani of 5,400 on Montague Street was sentenced by a Montgomery County court to 706 days in prison, which has already served three years on charges of attempted sexual assault and possession of child pornography in connection with two incidents. May. and June 4, 2020

Judge Thomas S. Branco also ordered Fabiani to serve three years of probation after parole, meaning Fabiani will be under trial for a total of six years. Fabiani will also have to report his address to state police to enforce the Pennsylvania Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

The judge said Fabiani is prohibited from having unattended contact with minors and must follow any treatment or counseling recommendations after a psychosexual assessment.

Other charges of attempted sexual intercourse, attempted indecent assault, dissemination of obscene or sexual material among minors, juvenile corruption, illegal contact with minors and criminal use of means of communication were dropped from Fabiani in exchange for a guilty plea to the most serious charges.

The investigation began on May 2, 2020, when Abington police received information about an adult who tried to seduce a 15-year-old man online using the Instagram social networking application, according to a criminal complaint filed by Abington detectives Rick Beagley. and Jeff Anderson.

“This communication was sexual in nature and was discovered by an adult family member,” wrote an arrest warrant for Anderson and Beagle, who was also sworn in as a special district detective to investigate cybercrime.

Detectives claim that the boy’s age was marked “15 and 16” in the victim’s social media account, according to court documents. Detectives reviewed reports in which Fabiani asked the boy for nude photos, and the couple did exchange several nude photos, according to the arrest warrant.

Detectives said Fabiani insisted on meeting with a teenage boy for sex and asked the boy to meet with him near Fabiani’s residence.

After reporting to police, Abington’s detectives took control of the teen’s Instagram account and began talking to Fabiani, posing as a teenager, court documents said. For weeks, Fabiani continued to seek sex during conversations with a secret detective and said he wanted to meet the boy, according to the criminal case.

Detectives identified Fabiani as a suspect based on images he sent to a minor.

Fabiani later agreed to meet with what he believed to be a teenage boy in the 200th quarter of Township Line Road in the Jenkingtown area of ​​Abington, according to court documents. Detectives drove in and arrested Fabiani at the meeting place.

When questioned by detectives, Fabiani admitted that he used his Instagram account to communicate with who he thought was a 15-year-old boy, sent nude images of naked people and tried to meet with a boy for sex, according to a criminal case.
