PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Allegheny County Police is participating in the National Prescription Drug Return Day.

It takes place today, Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

You can bring unwanted, expired or unused medications to the police so that the drugs can be safely disposed of.

Two collection sites were created:

North Park Police Station
700 West Ridge Drive, McCandless

South Park Police Station
1801 Brownsville Road, South Park

Dispensed without a prescription, controlled substances or prescription drugs are included in the circulation. Tablets, capsules, ointments, creams and liquids are taken in the package.

For safety reasons, syringes are not accepted.

Substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine will not be taken.

The event is anonymous. Law enforcement officials will not turn to those who provide medication, police said.

The village of Zhuravin also holds a rally on Saturday. Click here for more information.
