Bates is three times ashamed of the cycle, leading the Dodgers past Phyllis – Daily Local
PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Flour Bates stumbled past second base – a rare mistake for one of the most all-around all-star in baseball – and supported his fall with his left hand. Bates jumped up, clutching his left arm, and bounced to the other.
His sting temporarily frightened the Dodgers.
His right hand was in full force, and with one throw he helped save the winning streak of Los Angeles.
Bates Hamred, double and singles, rolled in three rounds, threw out potential determination and led to the seventh straight win for the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-4 over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.
“That’s why he’s one of the best players in baseball,” said manager Dave Roberts. “What he was doing in the penalty area, what he was doing in the right field, now he’s just playing elite baseball. We need every part of it. ”
Bates, a five-time Best Star Match participant and 2018 AL MVP, all about doing it by hand and at the plate to help the Dodgers play 4-1. He also drew a walk.
Bates reached base in 20 of 21 games, beating 0.333 (29 on 87) with seven doubles, seven homers, 18 RBIs, 22 runs and 1,041 OPS on that stretch.
“After I changed my mind to enjoy the process of working every day, let the game be a game, it turned out to be pretty good,” Bates said.
Gavin Lux leveled in a single key to the right over the involved yard in the eighth inning for a 5-4 lead. Cody Bellinger scored a goal on the wild field of Serantani Dominguez and made the score 6-4.
Jose Alvarado (0-1) allowed two strikes to open the eighth and was defeated. Daniel Hudson (2-3) made 1 1/3 of the zero serve with relief and won. Craig Kimbrell, the last of the Dodgers ’eight pitchers, the ninth worked without points in his ninth save.
Austin Barnes scored his fourth Homer in the ninth year, leading 7-4.
Bates kept his balance for the Dodgers in the seventh after Phyllis loaded the base with one exit. Hudson dismissed Alec Bohm on the low back of the right, and Bates ’throw with one jump easily beat the sliding Odubel Herrera on the plate for a double play. Which made the inning end more painful for Phyllis, if Herrera had stayed in third place, Bryce Harper would have hit with loaded bases.
“I thought he was going to take a chance,” Bates said. “I was just ready for it.”
Phyllis manager Joe Girardi said he was fine when third base coach Dusty Watan sent Herrera home.
“It’s a good outfielder. He made a very good shot, ”Girardi said.
Bates has three assists in 37 games this season after just two in 2020-2021 in 168 field games.
Harper scored 1 on 4 as a designated striker in his first game of the week. MVP 2021 NL was one of the hottest strikers in baseball before he was kicked out of the lineup. He won the Player of the Week award in NL for batting 0.609 (14 on 23) with three homers, six doubles, eight RBIs and 1.904 OPS in six games, three of them at Dodger Stadium.
Harper was injected with platelet-rich plasma into his right elbow, and prolonged soreness prevented him from participating in five games in a row.
The Philis bats were dormant, with only four wounds and three losses in the first four games without Harper. Encouraged by Harper’s return, Phyllis scored four wounds through four innings in the bullpen game for the Dodgers.
Leading 1-0 in the second, Bohm scored Homer with two series, his third of the season, against Mitch White, leading 3-1.
Kyle Schwarber, hitting just 0.199, entered the game, making a solo shot in the fourth, leading 4-1. Schwarber’s Homer tied him first place in the National League with 10. It was his only second home and first since opening.
Aaron Nola has failed to hold the lead and has yet to win since opening day.
Bates was Nola’s enemy in this. Bates crushed his ninth Homer of the season on the left field in the third and tied the game with a score of 1. One Phyllis fan, not impressed by the souvenir, threw the ball back on the field.
Bates added a double run in the fifth that pulled the Dodgers 4-3, but he stumbled heavily as he bypassed second base, trying to get a triple. Bates returned to the bag, and the coach and Roberts checked their star. Bates said he was fine and stayed in the game.
“Yeah, it was scary,” Roberts said.
Bates said his shoulder was numb for a moment until it came to life.
Good news for the Dodgers.
“This is a great player who had a great night. The fact is that Muki is that he can’t do anything, ”Girardi said.
Nola, who scored nine in 5 1/3 innings, gave up the lead in the sixth after the fourth Homer Will Smith this year, who made the score 4-4.
Phyllis sends RHP Zach Eflin (1-3, 3.90 ERA) into the mound against Dodgers RHP Tony Gansolin (4-0, 1.64).
