BIRDSBORO — Birdsboro VFW Post 411 hosted its annual POW/MIA ceremony on Friday, September 16th. This annual ceremony is held in a way that we will never forget.

Marine veteran Pamela Kubczak, the 2022 Veteran of the Year and a participant in the Pottstown Memorial Day Parade, was the guest speaker. She emphasized that the three Berks County troopers are still listed as POW/MIA.

Members of the VFW Auxiliary explained the significance of the white POW/MIA table, which is a small table set for one with a white tablecloth, a lighted candle, an upside-down glass and one red rose in a vase, and an empty chair.

Jeff Edwards played “Amazing Grace” on bagpipes.

The ceremony ended with everyone in attendance going outside for the raising and lowering of the US and POW/MIA flags, and the singing of “Taps.”
