Bona publishes memoirs Music

Bono plans to release a memoir “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story”.

In a future volume, U2 frontman rock legend describes his life and career through 40 songs from the band’s four decades of history.

Fans will get a sincere and deep insight into the reasoning of the iconic Irish musician with 576 pages and 40 chapters named after the songs.

According to the press release, the deeply personal book will recall key moments “from his early days growing up in Dublin, including the sudden loss of his mother when he was 14, to U2’s unlikely path to becoming one of the most influential rock- groups around the world, to its 20 years of activism dedicated to the fight against AIDS and extreme poverty. “

In a statement regarding the memoirs, Bono said: “When I started writing this book, I hoped to draw in detail what I had previously only sketched in songs.

“People, places and opportunities in my life. “Surrender” is a meaningful word for me. Growing up in Ireland in the seventies with his fists raised (speaking of music), this was not a natural concept.

“A word I just circled until I came up with thoughts for the book. I am still struggling with this most humiliated team. In the band, in my marriage, in my faith, in my life as an activist. Surrender is a story of one pilgrim’s lack of progress … with enough fun along the way. “

Editor and publisher Reagan Arthur added: “All the passion that Bona brings to his music and his life, he also brings to the page. Seven years ago another legend, the late Knopf editor Sony Mehta, bought the book because he knew Bona fit into the tradition of literary Irish storytellers, and we were lucky enough to see Sony’s notes on an early draft of the manuscript.

“We are even luckier that Bona has not only a dramatic personal story, but also a truly gifted writer. Surrender is honest, intimate, disrespectful and deep – dazzling memories of a wonderful life.

The hitmaker “With or Without You” gave fans a preview of the chapter “Out Of Control” with an animated story with some of Bono’s own images, which are now available for viewing on the band’s YouTube channel.

Earlier, the 62-year-old singer spoke about the 1979 track: “Out Of Control” – is to wake up on your 18th birthday and realize that you are 18 years old and that the two most important decisions in your life have nothing to do. you are born and die. “

The print edition and version of the audiobook “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story” will be released on November 1 via Alfred A. Knopf and Penguin Random House respectively.
