The African-American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania will hold a free public tea party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, in the Fondersmith auditorium of Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke St.
We invite everyone without registration.
Darlene Colon will present her interpretation of Lydia Hamilton Smith, a 19th-century entrepreneur from Lancaster and a trustee of Congressman Thaddeus Stevens. The Rev. Dr. Louis Butcher Jr. will give a special presentation.
The program will include colloquial words, music and performances.
The event is a postponed celebration of Black History Month, a press release said. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite cup of tea. Prizes will be awarded to the most unusual.
Parking is available at the back of the church.
