By providing women with information about hormones to understand and act on their health, Ying raises $ 10 million

Based in Berlin Ine raised $ 10 million as part of what the company calls an extension of the 2019 Serie A round. The health technology startup is producing a mini-lab with a saliva biosensor that women can use to track progesterone levels in their bodies.

Inne’s new $ 10 million attraction, already used by thousands of customers across Europe, will specifically help the company expand the platform and enter the U.S. market through an exclusive partnership with Phenology. To date, Inne has raised a total of $ 18.8 million.

Progesterone. In the list of chemicals floating in your body, this is quite important. The one we are probably most familiar with is the role of progesterone in the sex hormones involved in the menstrual cycle and in the mammalian pregnancy cycle.

However, progesterone does not stop there, as it also plays a crucial role in the production of other steroids, the least of which – corticosteroids, duality steroids (gluco or mineral), involved in stress response, immune response. , regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate metabolism, protein catabolism, blood electrolyte levels and behavior.

Becoming a certified medical device in 2019, Inne’s mini-lab it has been proven to be as accurate as if users in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK had sent a sample to a full-scale specialized laboratory and got a clearer picture of their menstrual cycle.

According to the startup, some users have used the service to help them conceive, while others have done the opposite. To this end, Inne is currently in the process of certification as a contraceptive product based on ongoing clinical trials.

In addition to expanding its perimenopausal tracking services, the new capital will be used to deploy stress tracking / analysis functions using a dedicated cortisol band. Cortisol, although good in small / sufficient doses, at its stable level is present in the body, ie. During stress, estrogen levels can drop, leading to weight gain, night sweats, sleep problems and mood swings. In addition to aiding in the management / understanding of the aforementioned perimenopausal symptoms / biochemical reactions, monitoring estrogen levels may play a crucial role in conception.

“Women’s health is consistently one of the most unfunded areas of medical research, and it was only in 1993 that women were officially required to engage in clinical trials in the United States. This means that women have less information about what is going on with their bodies and this makes it harder for them to improve their health and lifestyle. This information gap has been a driving force for me in creating inne, and I am delighted that we can now help women learn about their bodies and be active in managing their health and fertility, ”commented the founder and CEO of Inne Erin Rapti.

He led the $ 10 million series extension round of Ane DSM Venturingwith Borski Foundation, Calm Storm Venturesand angel investors Taavet Hinrikus (Wise), Dr. Fiona Patirajand Rolf Schromgens (Trivago) everyone is involved.

“The product is the best in its class for checking hormone levels at home. In a short period of time, it has been shown that inne leads in the trend of quantitative self-solutions for women. We are enthusiastic about the many uses, from fertility to contraception and perimenopause, ”concluded the Borsky Foundation. Simon Brumelheis.
