Chester County woman graduated from West Point – Daily Local

WEST GROVE — Maggie L. Weir of Landenberg graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point.

Whirlpool is an active firefighter at the West Grove Fire Company. Her father, Ron, is a former ambulance officer, life member and firefighter. Her brother Austin is also a volunteer firefighter and all three run out of London’s British station. She will serve as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army

The mission of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is to “educate, train, and inspire the cadet corps so that each graduate is an authorized leader with a character committed to values ​​of duty, honor, country, and prepared for a professional career and serving the nation as an officer in the United States Army. ” The graduates then enlist in the U.S. Army as officers. Maggie will serve in the military police, where she intends to make a lifelong career in the U.S. Army. Only 1,100 young men and women are admitted to the academy each year.

To participate in one of the academies of the country’s service requires a nomination by the US Senate. The Whirlpool achievement is an honor for her family, for the fire company, for the Avon Grove community and for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
