Divers find body inside car underwater – NBC10 Philadelphia
Divers searching for a missing 16-year-old girl say they found a car with her body in a Northern California reservoir, not far from where she attended a big party several weeks ago. FBI agents were at the scene while authorities worked to identify him, the sheriff’s office said.
Volunteer divers from the Adventures with a Purpose group. said they found Keeley Rodney, of Truckee, Sunday in their car, which they said came to rest upside down under 14 feet of water in Prosser Reservoir. Their Facebook post said the family had been notified. A website set up by her family updated Sunday to say the search had been suspended due to unconfirmed reports.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office has scheduled a press conference for 11 a.m. Monday to describe the findings.
Rodney was last seen Aug. 6 near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, at a party with hundreds of young people, police said.
Her friend Sammy Smith was with her at the party and said Rodney had planned to spend the night camping.
Friends and relatives were afraid that she had been kidnapped. Her phone was not working after the party and her silver 2013 Honda CRV was not found.
Marine units from three local sheriff’s offices searched the reservoir. The search spread across California and Nevada and involved at least 16 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Dozens of family members and friends also searched and offered a $50,000 reward.
