‘Ferris Buehler’s Day Off’ sequel is coming – with a twist – NBC10 Philadelphia

Get ready for a fun ride you’ll never forget.

E! News can confirm that Paramount Pictures is developing a sequel to the 1986 hit “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” — but don’t expect any more shenanigans from Ferris (Matthew Broderick) or Cameron (Alan Ruck).

Instead, the new movie, titled “Sam and Victor’s Day Off,” will focus on the valets, originally played by Richard Edson and Larry “The Flash” Jenkins, who take Cameron’s father’s Ferrari for a ride around the streets of Chicago.

The valets, who were not named in the OG movie, put a lot of miles on the precious car, which really made Cameron lose his s–t. He and Ferris tried to cover up their guilt by naively putting the car in reverse, but Cameron got so angry that he kicked the car and it crashed through the glass garage into the woods.

Now John Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, Netflix producers “Cobra Kai,” imagine what the valets did to drive so many kilometers by car.

Hurwitz teased the producers’ plans on Twitter, writing“Ferris Buehler had an epic day off. But the valets who stole Cameron’s dad’s car had a pretty crazy day, too. It’s time to tell their story.”

Fans have long hoped for a sequel to the beloved film, which centers on Ferris, his girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara) and friend Cameron as they play school for the day.

It seems the director John Hughes hoped to reunite with the cast in the next one, but that never materialized. “At one point,” Ruck told People’s Couch Surfing magazine in November 2020, “John Hughes had a brief conversation with Matthew about Ferris going to college.”

He added: “I always thought they should wait until Matthew and I were in our seventies. Cameron is in a nursing home and Ferris comes and knocks him out!”

Now that’s a movie we’d pay for!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is now streaming on Netflix.
