Few people take traffic rules seriously

editor:
Thank you for your editorial on August 18, in which you regularly reminded us of road safety and the dangers of speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving (“Pay attention to traffic rules”).
I can only imagine a world where everyone just doesn’t speed anytime, anywhere. The result will be fewer injuries and fewer deaths. Too many of us have experienced the loss of loved ones at the hands of someone who didn’t have the common sense to follow the rules of the road.
The editors note that “in the first half of 2022, accidents at emergency aid sites cost the lives of 32 workers.” That’s 32 people who didn’t go home that day to their families because of the carelessness and lack of responsibility of people who don’t care. about the safety of others.
Just as we all must respect and obey the rule of law, we must also respect and obey the rules of the road.
