BROOKSVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A Florida highway had to be temporarily closed Wednesday after a semitrailer carrying Coors Light cases crashed and turned the roadway into a silver sea of beer cans.
The multi-vehicle crash happened shortly after 6 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 about 30 miles north of Tampa, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
According to officials, the pile-up began when one semi-trailer clipped another while being rebuilt. This forced the other semis to slow down, but one failed to stop and collided with a pick-up truck and another of the semis that was stopping.
The non-stop bar was filled with cases of Silver Bullet beer.
The occupants of the pickup truck were reported to have suffered minor injuries, the report said.
The inside shoulder and carriageway were open to traffic by 8:30 a.m., and the rest of the roadway was reopened around noon, troopers said.
