Giants place Nick Gates, Matt Peart on PUP, 3 others on IR – Reading Eagle

The Giants didn’t need to cut players to get their roster down to 80 by 4 p.m. Tuesday — not thanks to the many injuries that have plagued them during training camp.
They placed rookie linebacker Darian Beavers (torn left forearm) and tight ends Ricky Seals-Jones (toe) and Andre Miller (fractured right forearm) on season-ending injured reserve.
And they placed forwards Nick Gates (broken left leg) and Matt Peart (torn ACL) on the physically disabled list.
That means Gates and Peart will miss at least four regular-season games, but are eligible to return afterward.
The team’s final round of cuts will take place in a week on Tuesday, until their roster is down to 53 for the season.
They will wrap up the preseason on Sunday afternoon against the Jets at MetLife Stadium after the teams practice together Thursday at the Giants’ facility.
