PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A year ago 60 minutes ago, the director of the UPMC Vaccine Research Center, Dr. Paul Duprex, warned that the COVID-19 pandemic was not over and we would face options.

A year later, at 60 minutes again, said we were moving in the best direction.

“There were a few more options,” he said. “But we’re moving in the direction if not so many people are in hospitals because of the disease. And we have a lot more people vaccinated. And we understand a lot about first vaccinations, second vaccinations, and now even vaccinations.” . So it’s a completely different landscape. ”

A native of Northern Ireland who heads the UPMC Vaccine Research Center, he said he hopes COVID-19 will switch to a milder form similar to the common cold.

“I would say it’s very likely,” he said. “But we just need to wait and see where the virus ends up, and it’s just good science. Scientists are watching the virus, watching it closely, and we understand how this virus changes over time and where it will go.”
