Ja Rule and Ashanti will be the headlines together – The Morning Call

One night on the main stage of Musikfest you will have the opportunity to see not one but two award-winning artists.

Ja Ruhl and Ashanti will perform together on August 12 on the Wind Creek Steel Stage stage at PNC Plaza. There is only one announcement of the concert on the main stage for the largest music festival in the valley, which will take place from 5 to 14 August.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday for ArtsQuest members and for the general public at 10 a.m. Friday musikfest.org.

During his career, Ja Rule has sold more than 30 million records worldwide. He made his debut in 1999 with his single “Holla Holla” on the platinum album “Venni Vetti Vecci”. He quickly topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart with hits “Between Me and You” featuring Christina Milian, “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny”, both starring Jennifer Lopez.

Ja Ruhl has joined forces with R&B singer Ashanti for the songs “Always on Time”, “Mesmerize” and “Wonderful”, receiving four Grammy nominations and two American Music Award nominations.

Grammy Award-winning singer / songwriter, actor and songwriter Ashanti debuted with her self-titled album with the hit “Foolish” in 2002. Her album topped the Billboard charts, selling 504,593 in the first week after its release. .

She was entered in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest number of albums sold by any debut artist, and she still holds the record. Over the two decades, Ashanti has recorded six studio albums, receiving a number of awards, including eight Billboard Awards, a Grammy Award, two American Music Awards, two Soul Train Awards and six ASCAP Awards.

In 2005, Ashanti starred as Dorothy in The Muppet Wizard of Oz, followed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Army Wives, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and films such as “John Tucker Must Die” and “Inhabitant of the Evil Extinction.” Immersed in the entrepreneurial pool, she became a partner with AMC Beauty and became the first black woman to start a national campaign with Herbal Essence. She recently wrote a book of poetry, “Foolish / Unfoolish: Reflections on Love,” which is due out this year.

Musikfest is the largest event of the non-profit art organization, a 10-day music festival that attracts nearly 1 million visitors each year.
