Kanye West “definitely” has “political aspirations” for the future.
Rapper and designer Yeezy, 45, had a disastrous bid to become President of the United States in 2020, with the outspoken star rumored to have lost more than $14 million on his campaign.
Despite this, the “Stronger” hitmaker hasn’t put off running for president in the future and believes God didn’t feel it was his time.
Speaking to ABC’s Lynsey Davis for “A Conversation with Ye,” the producer, who has legally changed his name to Ye, was asked if he had any “political aspirations for the future,” to which he replied, “Yes. Undoubtedly. You know, it’s… That time was not in God’s time. I’m sure there are lives that have been saved. I’m sure God made me fall on my sword and say, “This is not the time,” but you know he’s a savior. »
In November, Kanye admitted that he “embarrassed” his then-wife Kim Kardashian with his failed presidential bid and that his political views were “hard” on his marriage.
The hip-hop legend ran as an independent candidate but was only on the presidential ballot in 12 of the 50 states, and in his only press conference during his campaign, he admitted that he and the reality star were considering an abortion when she became pregnant their first child, nine-year-old daughter North.
And reflecting on that period, the ‘Jesus Walks’ star admitted Kim ‘didn’t like it’ when he linked up with former President Donald Trump wearing a red ‘MAGA’ cap and made them ‘targets’ with his outspoken views.
He said in a “prayer of thanksgiving” shared online: “Let’s get political here. Oh my god, my wife didn’t like me wearing a red hat. Being a good wife [Kim] wanted to protect me and our family.
“I made myself and our family a target by not following Hollywood’s political stance, and it was hard on our marriage.
“Then I ran for president without proper preparation and without allies from both sides.
“I embarrassed my wife by presenting information about our family during the only press conference, thank God.
“All my dad had to say afterwards was, ‘Write your speech next time, son.’
Kanye also admitted that he was “spending money like crazy.”
He told listeners: “This is the craziest thing I’ve ever done, and I’ve done a lot of crazy things.”
In February, Kim filed for divorce from Kanye, with whom she also has six-year-old Saint, four-year-old Chicago and three-year-old Psalm.
Meanwhile, Kanye recalled being “heavily medicated” after a manic episode in 2016, and it still affects him.
He said: “Since then I have been on and off medication, which has made me vulnerable to other episodes that my wife, family and fans have had to endure.
“My ego tends to cross the threshold of motivation and fun to just overbearing. There are ways to show confidence without being arrogant.”
