Katasaukua police confirm investigation after the driver of the attraction refused to go to the owner of the bar and companion through racist comments – The Morning Call

Katasaukua police are investigating a video in which the driver denies the owner of a bar in the area and her companion on a trip on Friday night through racist comments became viral.

A video posted by driver James W. Bode shows Jackie Harford, owner of Fossil’s Last Stand, in the 400th District of Race Street, allegedly saying, “Wow, you’re like a white guy.” Before Bode accuses the couple of racism, you can hear a man from Harford call Bode a “n —- lover.”

District Police Chief Douglas F. Kish said Monday that no charges have been filed, but confirmed that the woman in the video is Harford, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

At 10:27 p.m. on Friday, Bode called police and reported the incident, Kish said. No other details were reported.

The video has spread on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and elsewhere. The bar’s website and Facebook page have been removed, and Harford’s personal page has been removed. The bar was closed on Saturday and the phone rang unanswered on Sunday. It is unclear whether it opened on Monday. Otherwise, Harford could not be reached for comment.

During the video, which lasts more than a minute, the man says, “I have to punch you in the face.”

“Are you going to threaten me?” Bode asks and then tells the couple that he is calling the police.

Warning: This video contains graphic language.

Post Bode on Facebook has so far collected over 3,600 comments and 3,000 exchanges.

“Thank you for all who extended a hand and expressed support,” Bode wrote on his Facebook page earlier Sunday. “I appreciate it, really. But it has to be everywhere, every time. I don’t have to be the “guy” who did or said it … we all have to be that kind of person. Speak when you are uncomfortable, because it makes them uncomfortable, as it should be.

Bode did not immediately return a request for comment.
