Kathy Maloney is “not looking forward” to discussing her divorce from Tom Schwartz on TV.
The Vanderpump Rules stars, who tied the knot in 2019 after more than a decade of dating, have decided to separate in March 2022, and Katie admitted that it won’t be easy to open up about her divorce on the reality show, she’d rather be “honest” on camera.
She said: “I feel like Tom and I, we’ve always been very, very open about our relationship – good and bad – on the show. And it’s never easy. I’m not looking forward to airing. But I’d rather be honest than try to manipulate or cover it up or paint it in a different light or something like that.”
However, Katie, 35, who has starred alongside Tom, 39, in the restaurant reality series since it began in 2013, explained that she had “grieved and mourned a lot” since the split and that any shoot should capture where she is now , because she “can’t come back.”
Speaking on the You’ll Love Me podcast, she said: “I can’t go back to where I was six months ago. I have to be where I am now. I’ve been through a lot and grieving and healing. So I can’t pick at these wounds and forcing myself to keep going back to where I don’t want to go back when I’ve come this far.”
The reality star previously admitted that the split was “very amicable” and while there were “a lot of reasons” behind it, infidelity was not one of them.
She said: “There are many reasons [why I filed for divorce]. But it was very peaceful, with a lot of love. There was no infidelity. You know, we just broke up. We have a great friendship, but unfortunately things like this happen sometimes. I will always love Tom.”
