Kelly Osbourne was diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
The 37-year-old star was diagnosed with the condition when she entered her third trimester of pregnancy.
Kelly, whose symptoms included weight gain, fatigue and swollen ankles, said: “First of all, gestational diabetes is not your fault.
“At first I thought it was something I did. I wasn’t diagnosed until my third trimester, so it’s not like I developed it, as some people get it early on when they’re pregnant.
“I got it in my third trimester and basically thought it was something I did wrong.”
Gestational diabetes is high blood sugar and the problem occurs during pregnancy.
Kelly recently gave up sugar and started watching her carb intake.
The singer, who is expecting her first child with Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, explained to PEOPLE, “I’ve had no cravings this whole pregnancy except for sugar, which I’ve never had before.
“For me, the main thing that I realized was getting me down was sugary drinks, and that was juice. Because even when I drank freshly squeezed juice, it had way more sugar than I needed.”
Kelly’s lifestyle changes have already had a noticeable effect on her health.
She said: “Overall my skin has cleared up. I don’t need to wear makeup.
“My friends who haven’t seen me since the beginning of my third trimester, now when they see me, they’re like, ‘Wow. What has changed? Your skin is perfect,” and I know sometimes it’s pregnancy-related, but I had acne during pregnancy. I gave up sugar and they completely disappeared. I think it’s more clear.”
