Lauren Jauregui has ‘healed’ after her breakup with Ty Dolla $ign.
The 26-year-old star dated Ty between 2017 and 2019 and Lauren insists she has now ended their romance.
Discussing her song ‘Always Love’, Lauren shared: ‘I felt a sense of difficulty coming out of a relationship that you still want to be in and want to make it work, but it just didn’t work out.
“To this day, I have a lot of love and respect for him and what we had together.”
Lauren sent the song to Ty, 40, to discuss it with him directly.
The chart-topping star, who rose to fame as part of Fifth Harmony, told PEOPLE, “We’re both artists, and we both express ourselves very deeply through our music. But that was then. Now it’s just art.”
Lauren also insisted that the song’s message still rings true.
The brunette explained: “The songs I write capture the moment I’m in it.
“But for me, if a song can transcend that moment and still resonate with me and other people three years after it was written and after I’ve fully recovered and am no longer in that space, I think , that this is evidence that she needs to go out into the world.”
Lauren enjoyed great success during her time in Fifth Harmony.
And Lauren is convinced that she now has the right team around her to achieve solo success.
She said: “At the end of the day, there’s a lot of people making music right now. There’s a lot of incredible shit, and there’s a lot of mediocre shit. But if the mediocre has a plan, the mediocre will [make more of an impact].
“I learned that lesson and now I really need a team around me to help me move in tandem with my vision.”
