LCTA’s Fill the Bus event was a success for Toys for Tots

PITTSTON — The Luzerne County Transportation Authority’s Toys for Toddlers event was called Stuff the Bus, and that’s exactly what happened.
“The Fill the Bus event for Toys for Tots was a huge success,” said Gretchen M. Wintermantel, LCTA Director of Marketing and Communications. “We don’t have the toy count yet, but as you can see from the photo inside the bus, it was packed!”
Wintermantel said the LCTA raised $3,100 at the event thanks to an extremely generous community. The money allows the Marine Corps to purchase gifts for age groups that may not receive as many toy donations as others, especially ages 8 to 13.
On Wednesday, December 14th from 7am to 7pm at the Walmart Supercenter on Highway 315, Pittston, the LCTA held a “Fill the Bus with Toys for Toddlers”.
LCTA staff, US Marines and Santa Claus collected new unwrapped toys, books and games, as well as monetary donations.
“We know our community is very generous,” said LCTA Executive Director Bob Fiume. “Donations are especially needed this year for children aged 8 to 13, so we are delighted to help fill that gap with our event.”
