Liberty Golf Matt Vitaly Wins Philadelphia Junior Tournament – The Morning Call

Liberty senior Matt Vitaly recorded eight birds during the tournament record, 7 below 65 on Sunday to win the junior golf tournament in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Blue Course.

The Bethlehem resident scored 72 in the first round on Saturday before Sunday’s stellar round to win with two throws over Michael Lujan of Shavertown.

Evan Eichenlaub of the Moravian Academy was third in the 2nd.

On Sunday 1, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 16 and 18, 16-year-old Vitaly had the birds to catch Lugano, who shot in the first round of 67 before placing four bullets on the front side on Sunday. Lujan had four birds on the back nine to stay in the fight.

Vitaly had five birds in Saturday’s first round.

Michael Vitaly, Matt’s brother, finished 13th with a score of 76-76.
