Little League: Mountain Top hosts 8-10 Eastern Regional Softball Tournament

Nine state champions will join District 16 champion Pittston Area in this week’s Mountain Top Little League 8-10 Softball East Regional.

Pennsylvania, along with Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont, will send their state champions to the tournament, which begins Monday and runs through the week at the Mountain Top Complex off Alberdeen Road in the town of Wright. .

Caln Township won the Pennsylvania title. Pittston Area, as the host district champion, earned an automatic ticket to the East Regional tournament and did not participate in either the Section 5 or state tournaments.

The teams are scheduled to report on Sunday afternoon, with the championship banquet at the Woodlands Inn and Resort on Sunday evening. In the past, the area hosted the tournament at the Jenkins Township Little League field.

The double-elimination tournament will play four games from Monday to Wednesday. The championship game is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with another game at 1 p.m.
