Local Summary: Werner leads a golf seminar past Redeemer

Nick Werner shot a 4-under 32 to lead Wyoming Seminary past Holy Redeemer 166-182 on Wednesday in a Wyoming Valley Conference golf match at Hunstville Golf Club.

Shane Holcombe (44), Julia Lewis (44) and Quinn Kelly (46) also scored for the Seminars.

John Tandora (43), Jacob Kuhns (45), Alex Martin (46) and Nate Coates (48) scored for Redeemer.

Nanticoke 194, Hanover Area 206

Nick Sheil shot a 4-over 39 and was the runner-up, but his Hawkeye still fell to Nanticoke at Wyoming Valley Country Club.

Nanticoke was led by Ali O’Connor and Matt Steslek, who both scored 46 points. Lukas Jendrzejewski shot a 49 and Gray Bolesta shot a 53 to round out the scoring for the Trojans.

Darius Bahinski (48), Aiden Materna (51) and Gavin Thomas (68) also scored goals for Hanover Are.

Girls’ tennis

Hazleton District 5, Wilkes-Barre District 0

Jasmine VanCamp, Nancy Major and Katie Harmonski posted singles wins to lead Hazleton Area past Wilkes-Barre Area.

Jen Harmonski then teamed up with Dallas Huff and No. 1 doubles, while Mia Harmonski teamed up with Caitlin Marley to seal the win and close out the match.

Wyoming Seminary 5, MMI 0

Ilana Rosenthal, Ella Krippel and Maya Rosenthal won singles as Wyoming Seminary defeated MMI.

Ama Reitsma and Addison Priebe won at No. 1 doubles and the Blue Knights won at No. 2 doubles by forfeit to close out the scoring.

Dallas 5, Hanover Area 0

Dani Connick, Sofia DePaulo and Hyal Bryant each picked up singles wins as Dallas beat Hanover Zone.

The No. 1 doubles teams of Chloe Dadik and Abby Quinan and No. 2 Hailey Yakus and Natalie Wincelli closed out the match with victories.
