Lower Marion boys tennis team repeats PIAA 3A team title – Mainline Media News
The Lower Marion High School boys team won the PIAA 3A state championship on May 21, repeating themselves as two-time undefeated state champions, setting a 47-0 record (24-0 in 2021, 23-0 in 2022) in two years of flight.
The Lower Marion defeated Conesto 4-1 in the PIAA 3A state final, making it his third match between the two teams this season. In the first singles Justin I defeated Justin Xu 4-6, 6-1, 1-2 (retired); in the second singles Brian I defeated Rohan Rao 6-3, 6-1; and in the third singles Mark Lancaster defeated Aaron San, 3-6, 3-4 (retired).
In the first doubles, Stoyan Angelov and Adam Lee defeated Manas Dhavan and Vasily Lubinetsky 6-1, 6-2; and in the second doubles Scottie Stewart and Charlie Bitzinger lost to Vincent Yao and Rafi Lubinetsky 6-4, 4-6, 0-6.
A few hours before the final of the championship, “Aces” defeated “Palmyra” with a score of 3-0 and reached the final. In the first singles, Justin I led Aidan Mahafi with a score of 6-2, 4-2 (did not finish); in the second singles Brian I led Tyler Mahafi with a score of 6-3, 3-2 (did not finish); and in the third singles Mark Lancaster defeated Aidan Mark 6-0, 6-1.
In the first doubles, Stoyan Angelov and Adam Lee defeated Nolan Cielko and Cole Hazy 6-0, 6-1; and in the second doubles Scotty Stewart and Charlie Bitzinger defeated Othello Vida and Casey Haysey 6-0, 6-0.
Conestoga won the Dallas semi-final 3-0, winning the first singles and both doubles positions.
Aces reached the state semifinals, defeating Shady Side Academy, 5-0, May 20th. In the first singles, Justin I defeated David Mnuskin 6-1, 6-1; in the second singles Brian I defeated Sam Bitzer 6-0, 6-0; and in the third singles Mark Lancaster defeated Chase Hartman 6-1, 7-6 (1). In the first doubles, Adam Lee and Stoyan of Angels defeated Sai Chodri and Sidarto Ramineni 6-1, 6-1; and in the second doubles, Scotty Stewart and Charlie Bitzinger defeated Tommy Serta and Rob Brunins 6-2, 7-6 (4).
