On the first Friday of this month in Lancaster there is something for everyone.
Some activities include an art exhibition on the theme of pets (complete with treats for both dogs and people), a combination of wine and pickles accompanied by an art exhibition of a high school student and a spring organ concert.
Be sure to consult with event coordinators before going outside, as a rainy weather forecast may interfere with some activities.

Alley of Arts
The City of Lancaster and the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design have teamed up to create the Alley of the Arts. It was originally planned to place it in an alley between Lancaster City Visitor Center and Lancaster Central Market, but due to the possibility of rain it will now be in the visitor center on the second floor.

Curio & Creative Supply Gallery
Curio will continue to showcase works from Jeremy Waak’s collection “Post-Industrial Fetish”, which uses metals such as copper, silver and brass to create machine art.

On the first Friday of this month, Scott Bookman will release his collection “Trade Cards of Unknown People” at David Lyall Home & Design.
David Loyal for home and design
Works from the collection of Lancaster artist Scott Bookman’s “See the Unknown” will be exhibited at David Lyall Home & Design. The collection features “Cards of Unknown People”, which are small images of people whom Bookman does not know.
“College cards of unknown people started as an exercise in drawing. During the pandemic, I decided to draw at least one every day. Although the people I draw are unknown to me, I am often told that viewers know someone they know. I found humor in the absurdity of trading cards that no one will ever trade, ”Bookman said in a statement.
The exhibition runs until May 28.

Deerfoot Downtown
Deerfoot Downtown will host works by artist and high school student Oliver Brown with an artist reception and wine mix. Pickled cucumber tacos from the Lancaster Pickle Company will be served with wine.

Demut Museum
The Demut Museum will feature works from the Helen Berggruen collection “Between Two Worlds”. Berggruen usually paints interior design and extensive landscapes. She was also recently part of the artists ’residence at Elizabethtown College. The exhibition will be on display until July 24.

The first Reformed Church
Organist Larry Hershey will perform “Organic Reflections: Songs of Spring” in a 30-minute concert experience. Flutist Darlene Way will join Hershey. Together they will play songs such as François Joseph Gossad’s “Tambourin”, Brendan Graham and Rolf Lowland’s “You Raise Me Up” and “Takata” from Charles Marie Vidor’s Symphony V.

History Preservation Trust
The Historic Preservation Trust will host artist Thomas Foster Hermansader for a pop-up art show. Hermansader’s paintings are inspired by the sights of Lancaster County, such as the Euphrates Monastery, the House of Hans Herr and the Sickmann Mill, among others.

Red Raven will host works by artists Eric Fowler and Michelle Spizir. Goods Center
The Ware Center will host an event in support of two recently released exhibits. The event is called “Everyone is welcome” and it will honor Ukraine singers from the choir of the Episcopal Church of St. Jacob. Several refugees will also speak, including people from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Peru, Nepal, Chad and Ukraine.
The two exhibitions are “Undercover Artists, Open”, which is a curatorial gallery of future artists, and “Mementos y derivas” by Cuban artist Claudia Rojas.
