Missing Quakertown man found dead

The body of Adam Smith, a Quakertown man who went missing on Aug. 11, was found Sunday, according to the psychiatric facility where he was being treated.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are no longer actively searching for Adam Smith,” New Vitae healing and restoration posted on his Facebook page on Monday. “We have no further details at this time. The investigation is ongoing… Our sincere condolences to all those affected by this news.”

Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said her office cannot officially confirm the identity of the body found in a wooded area in Richland Township until an autopsy is performed Wednesday.

Quakertown police were unable to obtain additional information.

Smith, 38, moved away from the center. Authorities issued an alert saying he may have become confused due to medical issues.

The center was offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to his safe return.
