Monroe County Veterinary Clinic Operators Convicted of Non-Payment of Wage Taxes – The Morning Call

The owner of the Monroe County Veterinary Clinic and the controller of the enterprise were sentenced to one year in prison after being found guilty of withholding federal taxes on their employees ’salaries and failing to transfer those contents to the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Justice. said Monday.
Karin Breitlauch, 58, of Sailorsburg, and Linda Breitlauch, 64, of Stroudsburg, were sentenced Friday to 12 months plus one day in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Malacca E. Mannion. According to a press release, they were accused of withholding taxes from the IRS between 2013 and 2016.
They both pleaded guilty on July 20, 2021.
Federal Grand Jury in Scranton accused the Breitlauches in January 2020. Karin Breilauch, a veterinarian, owns and manages the Creature Comforts veterinary service in Sailorsburg, and Linda Breitlauch, her sister, is the supervisor.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the money included social security payments. When some employees went to collect benefits, their salaries while working at the veterinary clinic were not recorded in the Social Security Office.
Breitlauch was also ordered to pay $ 2.48 million in restitution and serve three years under supervision after imprisonment. On July 29, Manion ordered Breitlauch to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons.
