Olivia Rodrigo became the big winner of the Billboard Music Awards 2022 | Music

Olivia Rodrigo dominated the Billboard Music Awards 2022, receiving seven prizes.
The annual ceremony returned to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night (15.05.22), and this year half of the winners were announced at TikTok and the other half during a live broadcast on Peacock and NBC in the US.
Teenage pop superstar Olivia, 19, and rap legend Kanye, 44, dominated the evening.
Olivia won Best New Artist, 100 Best Artists, Best Streaming Artist, Best Radio Artist, Best Billboard Global 200 Artist and Best RB Artist, and “SOUR” topped the Billboard 200 Best Album.
As for Kanye, rapper “Jesus Walks” dominated the categories of gospel and Christianity, and “Donda” received home both the best Christian album and the best gospel. He was also named best Christian and evangelical performer, and “Hurricane” from “Donda” was named best Christian and evangelical performer, giving him six prizes.
Doja Cat received three awards for Best Artist RB, Best Viral Song for ‘Kiss Me More’ from SZA and Best Artist RB.
The Weeknd was the most nominated at the ceremony, receiving 17 nods, but the hitmaker ‘Blinding Lights’ received only one award for best performer RB.
The host of the star party was Diddy, which featured Megan Thee Stallion, Silk Sonic, Burna Boy, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran and Machine Gun Kelly.
Before the ceremony, organizers sparked controversy, allowing country star Morgan Valen to appear, despite the fact that last year he was banned for using racial insults.
The 29-year-old singer and songwriter spoke shortly after human rights activist Tamika Mallory delivered a speech on social justice and anti-racism that raised eyebrows.
Travis Scott also performed six months after the Astroworld tragedy, which killed 10 people in a crowd at a rapper festival.
Before the event, host Didi turned to booking Morgan and Travis.
He said: “So that Morgan and Travis can come back and touch the stage again in the mood to get a second chance at life.
“You know, everyone in the room gets a second chance at life because we went back outside without masks. We need love, and I am very happy to celebrate it. “
