“Penguins” again lead the NHL in local TV ratings

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The NHL is back to a full season with 82 games last year after missing a 2021 shortened season in 2021.

With a return to 82 games the NHL has noticed a drop in television ratings for the regular season, according to a report from Sports Business Magazine.

Their report found that in the United States, the team’s TV rating as a whole dropped by 23 percent.

This year, the Penguins had the highest television ratings in the league, averaging 5.43, but even that was 30 percent lower than last year.

This is nothing new for the Pens as they have published the best league rankings in nine of the last 16 years.

The team with the biggest fluctuations in the rankings was the team “Arizona Coyotes”, which decreased by 58 percent compared to last season.
