Peta Murgatroyd is heartbroken after her infertility treatment failed.
The 36-year-old Dancing with the Stars pro and her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy underwent IVF in a bid to have a sibling for their five-year-old son Shay, but now Peta has shared a heartfelt message on social media revealing the latest round of procedures failed.
She began her Instagram post with the following: “I promised you all that I would be open and honest. I’ve had moments where I wasn’t sure about my decision throughout my IVF journey, and even more so after we got the news that our transfer didn’t work,” Murgatroyd shares at the beginning of a lengthy Instagram caption. But to refuse from one’s word after such an open book would be wrong.”
Peta then shared the news that she was left heartbroken after treatment failed.
She continued: “One of the happiest days of my life and 10 days later one of the saddest moments I’ll never forget. Standing on the side of the road in West Hollywood hoping for the best… thinking about it was MY time, my turn for “happiness”. Life is funny though. Just when you think you have it all figured out, it smacks you in the face and makes you start over. I keep learning that “Gods plans will always be more beautiful than all your disappointments” . .. I have to keep believing in it.”
The dancer said that she has started the process of “recovery” and hopes that she will be able to move on soon.
She added: “I really thought it would work. Looking into Max’s eyes (so) as he cried seeing our baby together…it just made the experience so worth it even though things didn’t turn out the way we had hoped.
“I have taken the necessary steps to begin the recovery process. To sit in my feelings and feel what I need to start moving forward with an open heart.”
The couple got engaged in 2015 and welcomed their son in January 2017, just months before tying the knot in New York that summer.
