PHOENIXVILLE — The Phoenixville Fire Department held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new fire station on Paradise Street.
A parade from the current station in Church Street to the new station started the day’s celebrations, followed by the opening of the building and the positioning of fire engines and ambulances at the new station.
“Corps” is a traditional ceremony in the fire service, during which new apparatus is pushed into the station three times – once for God, once for country and once for the fire department.
A ribbon cutting ceremony featuring local and state elected officials along with firefighters was held at the new fire station at 150 Paradise St. The new station is located along French Creek, just east of the Babe Ruth League’s Deson Field.
