Pittsburgh Public Schools will operate in a modified lock mode after a shooting at an elementary school in Texas

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Public Schools will operate in a modified closure mode on Wednesday.
The decision was made by the district after a fatal shooting at an elementary school in Texas.
“Only those with a pre-scheduled appointment will be allowed to enter any institution during the changed lockout. Materials will be sent to schools to assist staff in discussions with students, and additional support from students and staff will be available to anyone who needs it.” said in a release.
The county said staff and families would be notified of the changed lockout through a car call on Wednesday morning.
The district’s statement on the mass shootings can be found below:
We are heartbroken because of the horrific tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uwald, Texas. School peace should by no means be the nightmare we have today. We mourn together with the family members of the victims, and our thoughts with the leadership, staff, children, families and all the united independent school district of Uwalde awaiting the days following such a tragedy.
