Police investigate possible abduction near Avondale – Daily Local

AVONDALE – The South Chester County Regional Police Department is investigating a possible abduction in a church parking lot near Avondale.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., police were dispatched to the parking lot of St. Rocco’s Church on Sunny Dell Road for a report of a woman calling for help while standing next to a vehicle. According to witnesses, the man prevented the woman from exiting and forced her back inside, once from the passenger side and another time when she tried to exit through the driver’s side door.

During the incident, the woman was crying, red-faced and screaming for help, police said. Once the man noticed people watching, he fled across the parking lot at a high rate of speed toward 41st Street. The vehicle then turned south onto Gap Newport Pike.

Once officers arrived, torn pieces of a purse or leather bag, pink in color, were located on the ground, consistent with the struggle described by witnesses.

The man is described as being in his 20s, stocky build, 5ft 10in tall and wearing a light striped polo shirt.

The female victim is also in her 20s, about 5ft 3in tall and was wearing a pink shirt.

The vehicle is described as a dark Mitsubishi Mirage ES hatchback.
