A man in Reading is accused of killing a taxi driver who disappeared back in August, which authorities have called a possible kidnapping.

30-year-old Darlene De La Rosa-Abreu was last seen on August 8 at 1:41 a.m. picking up a passenger believed to be Palaguachi in her taxi and exiting Reading across the bridge on Penn Street.

After months of his disappearance, police said on Friday they received evidence that led to the discovery of human remains in the Old Church Road area, believed to belong to De La Rosa-Abreu.

“He was a good man, he always worked very hard,” said Edwin Gonzalez, a relative of Abreu. “He never did anything wrong that could make people think he was suspicious.”

Earlier, police said they believed La Rosa-Abreu had left the area against his will, and his disappearance was considered suspicious.
