SCRANTON — A Scranton man has been convicted in federal court of passing counterfeit money to Mohegan Sun Casino and Mount Airy Casino.

According to a press release from U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Askia Riddick, 25, passed counterfeit cash totaling $1,800 at two casinos between November and December 2021.

U.S. District Court Judge Malachi E. Manion sentenced Riddick to one year in prison and two years of supervised release.

Riddick was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution for a similar crime at Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem.

The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service, the Pennsylvania State Police, the New Jersey State Police, the Hunterdon County, New Jersey District Attorney’s Office, and the Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office.

Assistant US Attorney James Buchanan has been prosecuted.
