MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Fiona passed near Guadeloupe late Friday, lashing some of the easternmost Caribbean islands with heavy rain and wind, as forecasters warned the storm could later threaten Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic with dangerous rain.

The US National Hurricane Center in Miami said Fiona was likely to become a hurricane near the Bahamas next week.
