The Duchess of Sussex admits that both pregnancies left her exhausted and stressed Entertainment news

The Duchess of Sussex’s two pregnancies left her exhausted and stressed.

In her new podcast Archetypes, she opened up about the struggles of carrying her children Archie and Lilybeth, which also featured her husband, the Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry.

The duchess – known as Meghan Markle before she married the royal – told her first guest and longtime friend Serena Williams that she was just “laying around” and was “just so tired” while waiting.

Serena also revealed that her close friend, the Duchess, 40, has been under ‘a lot of stress’

during her pregnancy.

The Duchess said: “I was just lying around. I’m just tired. So tired. Oh God.”

In May 2019, Meghan gave birth to her first son, Archie Harrison, and in June of last year, to her daughter, Lilibeth.

40-year-old Serena had a daughter Olympia in 2017.

The Duchess first became pregnant shortly after her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, when she and Harry, 37, announced the news ahead of their tour of Australia and Fiji that year, their first international royal tour.

During this period the Duke and Duchess also renovated and moved into their home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

She continued her royal engagement until March, when she went on maternity leave.

The Duchess gave birth to her first child, Archie, at Portland Private Hospital in Westminster in May 2019, and the Queen’s seventh in line to the throne and eighth great-grandson was born at 5.26am on May 6, weighing 7lb 3oz.

She then announced her pregnancy with daughter Lilibeth on Valentine’s Day last year.

It was during her second pregnancy that Meghan and Prince Harry gave an infamous TV interview to Oprah Winfrey before Lilibeth was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces.

The Duchess admitted to Oprah that she felt so depressed during Archie’s pregnancy that she had suicidal thoughts.

She told the chat show host: “I knew if I didn’t say it I would do it and I just didn’t want to be alive anymore.

“And it was a very clear, real and scary constant thought.”

In her new podcast, Meghan praised her friend Serena for looking “sexy” and mentioned the tennis icon’s Vanity fair pregnancy photoshoot, in which she posed topless with a belly chain.

At the start of the Archetypes With Meghan podcast, which aired on Tuesday (23/08/22), Prince Harry made a quick appearance to tell Serena that her hair gave off a “good vibe”.

Earlier this year, the Archewell Foundation announced that the couple’s Spotify podcast would debut this summer, 18 months after signing a deal with the firm.

In Archetypes, Meghan will talk to historians, experts and women who have lived through the type.

In the trailer, “Archewell Audio; project, the Duchess said: “This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls and how the media portrays women back to us. But where do these stereotypes come from? And how do they continue to appear and define our lives?

“This is Archetypes, a podcast where we dissect, explore and destroy the labels that try to hold women back.

“I will be having conversations with women who know all too well how these typographies shape our narratives. And I will talk to historians to understand how we got here in the first place.”

Meghan also revealed how she and Prince Harry’s son Archie narrowly escaped a fire in their bedroom while he was supposed to be sleeping during the Sussexes’ tour of South Africa.
