The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Trailer: June Faces the Music, Serena Joy Gets Revenge for Fred (VIDEO) | Entertainment news

Things are not looking good for June Osborne The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 trailer recently released Hulu. Among the many threats laid out in the clips, perhaps the most horrifying is the realization that Serena Joy Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) is becoming increasingly powerful in Canada.

“Serena’s got the world behind her” by June (Elizabeth Moss), the trailer says. “She will bring him here, Gilead.” But it is clear that both women are afraid of what the other is capable of. June is alarmed by the threat Serena poses to the world at large (“she’s always going to be dangerous”), and Serena fears for her own personal safety after the brutal (read: cathartic as hell) murder of Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes).

“Don’t you dare try to tell me you can protect me from her!” – says Serena, sobbing Sam JaggerMark Tuella. And she is right to be afraid. Earlier in the trailer, June confesses to Luke, “I killed him and I loved it so much.”

Here’s the Season 5 synopsis: “June faces the consequences of killing Commander Waterford as she tries to rethink her identity and purpose. Widowed Serena tries to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence seeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia in an attempt to reform Gilead and gain power. June, Luke and Moira battle Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to rescue and reunite with Hannah.”

Outside of June and Serena’s showdown, which will obviously be the main theme of Season 5, we got a first look at McKenna Grace as Esther Keys, still in the grip of the ever-creepy Aunt Lydia (Anne Dowd), Moira (Samira Wiley) reacts with horror to June killing Fred (“she tore him to pieces!”), Rita (Amanda Bruegel) delivering a smart warning, and Nick (Max Minghella) and Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) is still in cahoots in Gilead (with a particularly gory moment for newly minted Commander Blaine).

And in the most fascinating Luke (OT Fagbenle) and June teasers we’ve seen for a while now, the pair appear to be preparing to return to Gilead together to free their daughter Hannah. Viewers also get to see one of the seasons for the first time new characters enterLily (Christina Ko), a former Martha and Gilead refugee who became a leader of the Canadian Resistance movement.
