The IronPigs get back into the win column on Saturday

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (53-45) snapped their three-game losing streak against the Durham Bulls (54-44) with a 7-6 win on Saturday night. Kent Emanuel (2-1) pitched five shutouts for the win.

Justin Williams hit an RBI single against Taj Bradley (1-1) in the top of the first inning to score Gene Segura and give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead. Segura extended Lehigh Valley’s lead to 3-0 against Bradley in the top of the second inning when he hit a single that scored Chris Sharp and Mickey Maniak.

Drew Magee gave the IronPigs a 4-0 lead over the Bulls with an RBI single off Joe Wieland that scored Josh Okimi. Durham finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning against Sam Coonrod when Miles Mastrabuoni hit an RBI single that scored Grant Witherspoon and Xavier Edwards hit an RBI single that scored Vidal Brujan.

The IronPigs took a 7-2 lead against Joel Peguero in the top of the eighth inning when Okimi hit a three-run home run that scored Williams and Scott Kingery. The home run was Okimi’s third as an IronPig. Tristan Gray hit a two-run home run off Jayce Frye in the bottom of the eighth inning to cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to 7-4. Gray homered again against Jacob Hernandez in the bottom of the ninth inning, a two-run home run that cut Lehigh Valley’s lead to 7-6.

Hernandez earned his third save despite giving up a two-run home run. He was able to record two strikeouts to close out the game.

Next: The IronPigs and Bulls will wrap up their series on Sunday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m
