The Montgomery County Registrar of Deeds announces upcoming events

NORRISTOWN — Montgomery County Recorder Jeanne Sorg has announced her end of summer and fall events planned throughout Montgomery County. Sorg will take the office’s Veteran’s Discount ID program on the road, as well as the FraudSleuth presentation and Montco Roots: Family and Property History through Cases.

“One of my favorite parts of this position is getting out into the community and providing services from my office to people,” Sorg said. “I am grateful that we are able to provide these services to the people of Montgomery County every day.”

Veteran ID Discount Program

Veterans are encouraged to file their military discharge papers (DD214 or NGB22) with the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds office. Documents are stored permanently in the office’s secure database.

Veterans who file their military discharge papers receive a Veteran’s Discount Certificate, which allows for discounts at more than 650 businesses throughout Montgomery County. Veterans must bring military discharge papers and photo ID, such as a driver’s license, to the event. The whole process only takes a few minutes.

FraudSleuth

FraudSleuth is a free property alert service provided by the Recorder of Deeds office. Montgomery County property owners can register using their Parcel ID, which is a unique identifier for their property, and will receive email alerts when our office records a document against the information included in their profile.

Montco Roots: Exploring Family and Property History Through Cases

During this program, Sorg will review the types of documents recorded at the Recorder of Deeds office and demonstrate how to search the office’s online database for current and historical deeds to your property. Historical documents contain a wealth of information about family relationships and property history.
