Thomas Markle was taken to hospital after suffering a stroke.

The 77-year-old television lighting director, the Duchess of Sussex’s father, is currently receiving emergency medical care at a hospital in the United States.

Samantha Markle, his daughter, told MailOnline: “My father is being treated at the hospital. We are asking for privacy for the family, his health and well-being. He just needs peace and rest. With God’s help. We are praying. He just needs some rest.” .

Thomas was going to fly to the UK later this week as he planned to be in London to celebrate the platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth.

However, now he will not be able to make the trip and will continue to recover in the hospital.

Thomas was originally treated at a hospital in Mexico, but is now being treated at a medical center in Chula Vista, California.

A source told The Sun: “He drove to a hospital in Mexico where he lives and they later transported him by ambulance across the border to a hospital in San Diego on a wheelchair and with an oxygen mask.

“His son Thomas Jr. has already been with him to Rosarito and is now in San Diego.

“His daughter Samantha is flying in from Florida to be with him as well.”

Meanwhile, Thomas recently revealed that he is looking forward to traveling to England and meeting with members of the royal family.

Thomas was not present at his daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018 as he was recovering from heart surgery, but he wanted to thank Prince Charles for holding her down the aisle.

He said: “I am going to show my respect to the Queen and make sure the Queen understands that my whole family respects the Queen and the Royal Persons.

“We admire them and want them to know that we treat them and treat England that way.

“I would like to meet with Prince Charles and thank him for guiding my daughter down the aisle, and to meet and talk to him because I think we have a lot in common now.”
