Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen filed for divorce.

The 45-year-old sports star and 42-year-old Gisele confirmed their split through statements posted on social media.

Tom wrote on Instagram: “My wife and I recently finalized our divorce from each other after 13 years of marriage. We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We have wonderful and wonderful children. who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they get the love and attention they deserve.”

The NFL star – who has nine-year-old Vivian and 12-year-old Benjamin with the model, as well as 15-year-old John with Bridget Moynahan – admitted their split was “painful and difficult”.

He added: “However, we wish each other only the best as we pursue any new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what lies ahead in the coming days and weeks. forward. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, Gisele admitted that the famous duo had “grown apart”.

In a statement, she wrote: “The decision to end a marriage is never an easy one, but we have separated and while it is certainly difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and wish only the best for Tom always.”

Confirmation of their divorce comes after Tom reversed his decision to retire from the NFL.

Gisele also recently revealed that she wanted Tom to be “more present” in her life and the lives of their children.

The catwalk star said: “Obviously I have my concerns. It’s a very brutal sport and I have kids and I wish it was more present.

“I definitely talked to him over and over again. But at the end of the day, I feel like everyone has to make the decision that works for (them). He must also follow his joy.’
