Tom Brady’s return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is imminent.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback will return to the Bucks in the coming days, head coach Todd Bowles told reporters on Sunday. NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported that Brady is expected to return on Monday.

Brady was released from the team on August 11 for personal reasons. The absence was planned in advance, and Brady and Bowles discussed the QB taking time off before training camp even started.

The initial plan was for Brady to return sometime after Tampa Bay’s preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. Bowles, however, was evasive when asked about that return schedule earlier this week.

“We’ll see,” Bowles said Thursday. “We’ll talk about it next week. It doesn’t bother us now. We’re trying to practice against Tennessee and play the game. I said (Brady will be back) ‘sometime after Tennessee.’ I don’t have a final date, but we’ll check, stay in touch and find out.”

But now Brady will indeed be back a few days after the Bucs’ second preseason game.

Tampa Bay closes out the preseason against the Indianapolis Colts on August 27. Bowles said a decision has not yet been made on whether Brady will play in the final preseason game.

The Bucs’ 2022 season opener is scheduled for Sept. 11 at Dallas vs Cowboys on Sunday night football.
