The third annual Clean Water for Heroes Fishing Tournament, which raises money for veterans’ charities, will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the J. Scout Reservation. Edward Mack north of Brickville.

All proceeds from the event, which was founded two years ago by Case Baccio – now a fifth-grader at Landis Run High School in Mannheim – go to veteran nonprofits including Blue Skies for the Good Guys and Gals and River House PA.

The mission of these groups is to give veterans a health experience.

Blue Skies is raising money to send wounded veterans and members of the Gold Star and Blue Shield families – families of fallen veterans and police officers – to the annual outdoor event, Warrior Weekend to Remember, in Ohio.

Veterans and families attending the annual event participate in activities including hot air ballooning, fishing, airplane and helicopter flights, skydiving and bonfires.

Fishing Tournament Schedule May 7: 7-11 a.m., Adult Tournament (16 years old); lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m .; and 13-15, children’s tournament. Cash prizes for adults range from $ 35 to $ 70; Kids can win gift cards from $ 20 to $ 40. There will also be a raffle with prizes.

The cost of participation in the tournament is $ 35 for adults and $ 15 for children. For those in the “heroes” categories, including Purple Heart veterans and members of the Gold Star and Blue Shield families, the fee is $ 20 for adults and $ 10 for children.

In the first two years, the tournament raised more than $ 13,000 for veteran groups. Volunteers are needed to help with this year’s event.
